RELEASE DATE:

EXPIRATION DATE:

July 14, 2021

Overview

Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has improved dramatically over the past decade. This progress has yielded more treatment choices for clinicians and patients but also adds greater complexity to the already diverse field of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treatment. Clinicians must keep apprised of new data on treatment strategies, including drug simplification and long-acting injectables, selection of appropriate individualized therapy, and effective management of treatment side effects. In this interactive, case-based program, expert faculty will provide guidance on how to incorporate new treatment strategies into clinical practice. They will also discuss various aspects of HIV management, including the selection of an initial antiretroviral regimen for a patient with advanced disease; treatment modification in women; and treatment simplification.

Target Audience

The intended audience for this activity is pharmacists involved in the management of patients with HIV。

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Assess the latest clinical evidence regarding the treatment of patients with HIV.
  • Identify patients with HIV who may benefit from switching treatment due to comorbidities and/or side effects.
  • Review the latest evidence regarding emerging long-acting formulations for HIV management.
  • Examine gender issues that may impact choice of ART.
  • Incorporate strategies for optimizing adherence to ARTs in patients with HIV.
